در تحقیق حاضر اثر سه متغیر جریان، سرعت جوشکاری و دمای پیش ­گرم در سه سطح مختلف حین جوشکاری FB-TIG آلیاژ آلومینیم 5083 مطالعه شد. با استفاده از روش تاگوچی، 9 آزمون برای بررسی اثر متغیرها بر عمق نفوذ طراحی شد. مطابق با پیش ­بینی ­ها، با افزایش جریان و میزان پیش گرم و کاهش سرعت جوشکاری، عمق نفوذ افزایش یافت. بیشترین مقدار عمق نفوذ  mm 8/02 بود که  در جریان A 220، سرعت mm/min 120 و دمای پیش­ گرم 100 درجه سانتی‌گراد به دست آمد. تحلیل تاگوچی اثر بیشتر جریان و دمای پیش ­گرم نسبت به سرعت جوشکاری را نشان داد. تحلیل میکروسکوپی نشان دهنده­ ریزدانه شدن فلز جوش و درشت شدن دانه‌های HAZ در تمامی نمونه­ ها بود. حفرات بسیاری نیز در نمونه ­های با سرعت و جریان بالا در منطقه ذوب رویت شد. نمونه­ جوشکاری شده با بیشترین میزان حرارت ورودی دارای بیشترین عمق نفوذ بود. این نمونه بیشترین درصد ازدیاد طول را داشت که 69 درصد فلز پایه بود. همچنین با آزمون ریزسختی‌سنجی دریافت شد که سختی این نمونه در HAZ افت شدیدی دارد و از 70 به 58 ویکرز رسید.
